Quick and Healthy Dinner Ideas For When You're Tired

Trying to stay healthy can be difficult after a long workday when the last thing you want to do is spend hours in the kitchen, so here are some quick and healthy dinner ideas you can try next time you come home exhausted from work.

Salad

A salad is a very simple and healthy meal you can make when you're too tired to cook anything.

Simply chop up whatever vegetables you have in your fridge and toss them over some washed lettuce or spinach.

Cook your protein of choice (my personal favourite would be chicken), keeping in mind that grilling or baking is better than frying although it does take longer.

You could make it even easier for yourself by prepping some protein at the beginning of the week so all you have to do is heat it up.

Finally, drizzle on some dressing, olive oil and lemon juice is always a nice option.

Wraps

Making a wrap is pretty much the exact same process as making a salad just with the addition of the wrap.

Prepping food at the start of the week will make dinner time a lot easier for you so why not prep a few food containers with pre-chopped/cooked vegetables and a few protein options such as chicken, tofu, fish, mince or whatever you like.

This means that when you come home after a long day at work you just need to heat up the protein and wraps and your dinner will be ready in minutes.

Pitta Pizzas

This one is perfect for when you're craving a takeaway midweek but want to wait until the end of the week instead.

If you're so inclined you can make a homemade tomato sauce but a store-bought one works just as well.

Pop the tomato sauce in a bowl and heat up in the microwave for a few minutes before spreading on your pitta.

Next, you can add whatever toppings you like, cheese, pepperoni, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms etc.

Whatever you usually have on a pizza can be on this pitta version, just be careful not to overload it because pittas are pretty small.

When your pizza is assembled place it on a tray in a preheated oven (180 degrees) for eight minutes and enjoy.
