From Trendy to Timeless, New Look Has Some FABILIS Pieces For Next Season

From Trendy to Timeless, New Look Has Some FABILIS Pieces For Next Season
By Beaut.ie  | Aug 13, 2014

You know that feeling when you walk into a shop and you have no money and yet you see about ten things you want, like, NOW?

That always happens to me, so this season I am going to change all that. I've started to save my pennies for my new season wardrobe, because having seen the new collection from New Look, I want EVERYTHING. The high street is stepping it up and each of the stores we love are vying for our attention and pocket money.

At the moment, New Look are right up there. Hitting the shops from this month and right through to October, the Autumn Winter drop will soon hit the shop floors. Yes there are trend driven pieces, but what is attracting me are the timeless styles that I can see us wearing in 2015 and beyond. But first, let's look at those trendy things.

From left: Coat, €64.99, Jumper, €29.99, Jeans, €29.99, Shoes, €24.99; Middle: Coat, €59.99, Jumper, €17.99, Skirt, €29.99, Bag, €29.99. Right: Coat, €74.99, Dress, €29.99, Shoes, €24.99

Mannish tailoring is not something with which we are unfamiliar, but New Look are making it look wearable with skinny jeans and that new season must have - the polo neck. Carrie Bradshaw would be delighted with the printed full skirt layered under flattering knits and 3/4 length jackets (remember the episodes in Paris, sigh).

And you can embrace your inner Twiggy with the sixties inspired animal print and block colour combo. One key trend is plaid (highland dancing is encouraged) across jackets and shoes; my favourite piece being the wrap which you can layer over a blazer or leather jacket.

If you are on the hunt for a new coat, watch out for new season hues and textures.

Plaid extends to coats too, but it's more reserved with nuances of yellow and pink. That tailored look applies to outerwear with the return of the double breasted coat which I can see looking chic over suits and separates. But for a bit of fun, and perhaps appropriate come party season is faux fur which is soft to the touch and always a popular choice for Winter weddings and occasions.

Speaking of party season, closer to December we will see the sparkle emerge.

A huge range of dresses of all lengths, shapes and colours will pull at your inner magpie, with the show stopper being a full length silver embellished gown that would give Elie Saab a run for his money if you ask me. This dress is a ringer for the style Kate Hudson wore to the Oscars, is it not?

Accessories are luxurious but timeless, with statement earrings and perspex clutches being winners with the fashion editors.

Clockwise from left: Silver dress, €129.99; Shoes, €29.99; Playsuit, €39.99; Earrings, 9.99; Tassle dress, €49.99; Perspex Clutch bag, €24.99

Now what's in Lorna's edit?

Well, too much to include in just one article, but I see the blue coat as one to watch (we did have the pink coat last season which will still be a key piece so hold onto it if you have one!).

I've never been a jumpsuit fan, but this one is well structured around the bust-line and waist to give a flattering shape. It's an ankle grazer so style up with a pair of statement shoes and finish off by draping a black blazer or leather jacket around your shoulders and you'll stun I tell you!

I've been in love with the back pack since my first day of Junior Infants but it's grown up somewhat to a sophisticated, block-style bag that is a chic addition to your office wardrobe. The flatform shoe stays for Winter, and is a style that I have a love/hate relationship with, then again they are super comfortable and are incredibly flattering to your calves when worn with an a-line or pencil skirt.

So what to you do think? Is there something from the New Look collection that you will be adding to your wishlist?
