Get the couture-inspired Valentine's makeup look

Valentine's Day is just around the corner. And we've got a colourful, couture-inspired look that's perfect for it

Valentine's Day is a great excuse to play with makeup (not that we need it!). But after the grey, endless days of January, it gives us something to smile about. And what better way to mark the beginning of spring than with a bit of colour? I've put together a makeup look that was inspired by the latest Chanel couture runway collection in Paris. Sounds fancy, but it's actually really simple, no mad skillz required, promise.

To start, I prepped our model Claire's skin with some moisturiser and Elf Poreless Primer (€10.75). For a natural looking base the Shiseido Synchro Skin Glow liquid foundation (€48) is a gorgeous choice and worked perfectly here.

Next, I used Shiseido Paperlight shadow in Shobu Purple on eyes (€28). Claire has blue eyes, but the same shade would work well on hazel, green, grey and brown eyes too. The texture of these is really beautiful - they blend like a dream whether applied using fingers or a brush. After that, I used Isa Dora Stretch Lash mascara to give lashes length and definition.

Glossy, cherry lips were the focal point of the Chanel Couture look at Paris. And with any lip centric look (especially on Valentine's!) it's important to prep your lips first. So I used the ELF lip scrub (€6.45) and then a pencil to give shape.

Next up was this show-stopping Liquid Lipstick from ELF in the shade "Apple Red" (€6.90). If ever there was a perfect Valentine's shade, it has to be this, right? The pigment is fantastic in it too. One swipe and you're good to go. When that was applied, I dusted on a little light blush/bronzer mix, just to balance the overall look - but depending on your skin tone and face shape you could skip this step.

And there you have it! A simple, but different Valentines makeup look inspired by the runway!
