GlossyBox Celebrates Superdrug's 50th With a Box of Their Most Popular Goodies: We Take a Look at Exactly What You'll Get For Your Pennies

This month's Glossybox is a bit of a birthday cake but in, eh, cosmetic format. See, Superdrug has hit a bit of a milestone and turned the big 5-0 this year, and Glossybox has gotten in on the action by creating a special Superdrug-themed offering this month.

The collaboration was all kept very hush-hush. But judging from the reaction on social media, it would seem to be one of the higher value boxes that they have released.

So I took a look inside this month's offering to see what all the twitter-hype was about.

The packaging on this one is quite different from the usual glossy parcel that Postman Pat brings to your door. It's a clever pair-up because Superdrug are home to some good brands, and you'd imagine that they'd want to use the Glossybox to put their best (pedicured) foot forward.

The contents of the celebratory boxes are based on Superdrug's most popular products but not every bosca is exactly the same - there is an element of the luck of the draw as to whether you get the best one for you. The cost is €15 while stocks last and the May delivery promises at least four full size products, along with a few extra treats.

And Maybelline, Rimmel, Max Factor and Simple are just a few of the brands that you might find under the tissue paper.

The box that I checked out had the following goodies:

  • Scholl Velvet Smooth Overnight mask for feet
  • Elegant Touch French Manicure Nails
  • Superdrug 'B' conditioning lipstick

  • Garnier BB Cream
  • Rimmel Scandaleyes Mascara
  • Sample of Garnier Oil Beauty Lotion

If you are a old beauty soldier and know exactly what you like, then you'll probably be baffled as to why people are buying what are effectively makeup lucky bags. But others just love the 'present' aspect of it, it's a treat amongst the bills and the letter from the dentist telling you that your check up is due.

And there are now lots of players in this beauty box market, with Birchbox and Irish-owned Chic Treat Club also coming to a post box near you.

Overall, consistency of quality and reputation are the key elements that help us decide whether we want to stay subscribed to these boxes or not.

But these type of collaborations with well-known and respected brands can really help them to stand out from the crowd.

Tell me, what other collaborations would YOU love to see?

Did you receive this latest Glossybox and Superdrug collaboration, and if so, what was in your beauty box? Were you happy with it?
