Mermaid makeup for Halloween: Pretty OR scary and surprisingly easy to do

Dressing up for Halloween can be pretty, scary, funny or, we'll say, skimpy. I'm not sure which category a mermaid fall into but it's certainly cool and a little bit different.

To be a mermaid all you will need is some green, blue and maybe purple or pink cream shadows. You could also use powder eyeshadows and make them stronger by wetting them. Just scrape some shadow out of the pot and then wet it with some MAC Fix + spray or any thermal water spray. Then you will need a pair of fishnet tights, some sponges and makeup brushes.

I find it best to use a mixture of both matte and shimmer eyeshadows or creams to build the colour.

You need to decant the eyeshadow or cream on to a petri dish or a saucer. Spray it with your spritz and work the product into the water with your sponge until it forms a paste. Once it has a paste-like consistency it should transfer well onto the skin.

Next, you just hold the fishnets tight against your skin right to the edge of the hairline.  Take your sponge and stifle the colour onto the skin over the fishnets. You need to use firm pressure but try not to move the fishnets and mess up the design. You might need an extra pair of hands to hold the fish nets in place while you stamp the colour on using your sponge.
