Kate Winslet Has Banned Her Kids From Using Social Media

She may play one of Steve Jobs' confidants in the new movie, but Kate Winslet is no fan of social media.

Speaking with The Sunday Times, the actress said that when a teenage girl posts a selfie to the Internet "she's thinking about what some other person thinks who she doesn't even know. [This has] a huge impact on young women's self-esteem because all they will ever do is design themselves for people to like them. And what comes with that? Eating disorders."

Of sharing your memories on Instagram, Winslet added: "The second you share that memory, that's not your memory anymore. You've given it away." That's what she said to her 15-year-old daughter, Mia, which we're sure she appreciated.

The 40-year-old mum of three also had some tips for parents today: "You have to stay in touch with your kids... I think parents are losing control. Especially if they're busy parents. It's really hard to keep your finger on the pulse."
