This season, it's all about print shirts. Walk into any shop on the high street and you'll see them in all their patterned glory.
I was on holidays in France a couple of weeks ago and dropped into Pimkie, a French fashion chain. Among the usual trendy garb - bomber jackets, leather skirts and slogan tees - were reams of shirts. I picked up a white-based shirt, with an unusual leaf print. How French Vogue Editor of me.
That's where the inspiration comes from, I think. French style is never passé. One of the most enduring looks is the jeans, shirt and heels combo, and this season, everyone can rock French chic. But, we can do it with some flair.
Patterns are not generally part of the stereotypical French thang. Basics like white, pale blue, navy and khaki are the shirt colours of choice. Black, denim and check are sometimes thrown in the mix. So, if you want to nod to this effortlessly cool way of dressing but put a bit of personality into it, chose a shirt print that stands out.
