How to update the jeans you already own for SS18

It doesn't matter what type of jeans you own, just do these two simple things and you're suddenly totally on trend

There's no point in trying to wish for better weather. Especially now that we know a warm spell is a-comin' at last! Expect shirtless men and plenty of red shoulders as clothes are shed, but be prepared for a return to the chill because if I know anything about the Irish climate, that is definitely going to happen. It's hard to choose what to wear when the weather is so unpredictable. But there's one item of clothing that is above all weather types: jeans.

You can wear your trusty denims in rain, hail, sun, or snow; just match the top part accordingly. Simple, right? Yes and no. Simple because, like, it's a jeans and top outfit. But if you're style conscious, there's a couple of things you can do to elevate the look and be more now.

First, add a belt. The accessory of the season is the Gucci GG belt. EVERYONE is wearing it.

It's actually one of the cheapest ways to insert a bit of designer into your life, but never fear if it's out of your price range, belts are back, so you can pick one up for €3 in Penneys or any high street shop.

The second way to make sure your jeans and top outfit isn't just a jeans and top outfit is to cut the hem. Frayed hems were a thing last year, but it's still the best way to make your jeans look current - and just that touch cooler.

Altered clothes give the impression that you are the one in control of your look, not the other way around. A raw-edge against a cool ankle boot is a low-key way to look 'in style' without feeling - or looking - uncomfortable.
