Temporary tattoos for your cuticles: Is this the stupidest nail trend yet?

I've embraced some pretty silly beauty trends in my time, but I don't think any of them have been quite so pointless as cuticle tattoos. These are the very latest thing in nail embellishment, if you believe some of the over-excited coverage they've been getting – August is a lean month for news stories in beauty as in everything else, I guess – and involve the placement of a temporary tatt on the skin along the cuticle to fancy up your fingers.

It's nail art that's not for your actual nails, and the end result looks something like this:

Now, you all know that I love me some nail deadliness and DIY, and I'm also partial to graphic shapes so in theory I should be enthused, but actually I'm very β€œmeh” about cuticle tattoos.

They make me want to hand the wearer a nail brush and some soap, because I just can't help thinking that they look a bit dirty, not to mention kind of juvenile, like someone doodled their digits with a biro during a slow afternoon when their boss was away.

It might be the colour, though. If they were a henna-ish black-brown or maybe metallic, I could probably work up a bit of enthusiasm for them. Maybe. Except they'd still be drawing attention to my oft-unloved looking cuticles.

If you think I'm just way out of touch and want to get some of these tacktoos for yourself, hit up the Rad Nails website where they cost $6 apiece plus $5 for international shipping.

Or save your pennies and just get busy with a Bic while the boss isn't looking, instead.
