3 alternative uses for a regular brown gel eyeliner

Brown gel eyeliner is a staple in most of our makeup bags. And while it's perfect as an eyeliner, there are other ways it can be used too.

Brown gel eyeliner is often seen as the slightly safer, boring cousin of black eyeliner. At least that's what some people think. In reality though, brown liner is a far more versatile product than black gel liner. And versatility, is something that we're loving on this month at Beaut HQ. Why? Because we're focusing on spring cleaning our beauty routines and streamlining our beauty stash (in case you missed it, check out Miriam's editor's letter here that explains everything!).

One of the first steps to streamlining, (whether that's for travelling, work or just your own sanity) is to embrace multi-tasking products wherever possible. And brown gel liner fits the bill perfectly. Here are three alternatively uses for one of our makeup bag staples.

  • Create a quick smoky eye

This is a favourite makeup artist trick when a smoky eye is needed in two minutes or less. Start by applying brown liner to your lids using your fingertips or a flat headed brush. Then blend out the product with a fluffy brush and set with a touch of powder. Voila! The quickest smoky eye ever (and no fallout!).

  • As a brow pomade

It might take a little bit of trial and error depending on the shade of your brows, but a brown gel eyeliner can double up as a great brow pomade substitute when you're in a jam.

  • For contouring cheekbones

Mix a small dot of your liner with a dab of foundation onto the back of your hand. When blended together you'll have a creamy contour cream that can be used to create killer cheekbones in a flash.
