Finding the perfect mascara is like finding the perfect pair of jeans. On the face of it, it seems like a simple enough task, but as we know, it usually isn’t.

Everyone is different; our eye shapes differ and we all have our separate needs, likes and dislikes. To try and help find your perfect match, we’ve whittled down some of the best new releases of the year – and in the mean time, we’re keeping our fingers crossed they don’t get discontinued.

Want fuller, longer, more dramatic lashes? Then this is the mascara for you. The long-wearing formula is smudge proof and doesn’t crumble or flake throughout the day. (Check out Aisling’s review here.)

This clever formula is designed to tint lashes over time, which means even when you aren’t wearing mascara your eyes won’t feel totally naked. Great news for anyone with blonde/invisible lashes.

Aside from being a volumizing mascara, this smudge free formula has carnauba and cassie flower waxes included, which help to condition and care for lashes, making them stronger so they don’t fall out quite as quickly, ultimately meaning you have more natural fullness/volume for the product to work with. A new addition to the Volume Million collection this past year, Feline offers up a revamped formula and wand (designed to move with lashes for more separation, curl and lash coverage).

This award-winning mascara was only launched back in February but has already become a cult classic for Elizabeth Arden. Why? It's a triple threat. It lengthens, curls and volumises lashes - and what's not to like about that? (Read the full review here.)

So there you have it: five launches that we loved from this year. An honorary mention goes to Penneys mascara too (€1.50) – we haven’t tried it yet, but according to everyone on my Twitter and Instagram feeds it meant to be amazing. Have you tried it? Let us know down in the comments!
