Kirstie blogged about the Shu Uemura Art of Hair range a while back, and since then I've had the chance to try out their latest additions to the collection - the Muroto Volume Amplifying shampoo and conditioner. Designed for use on fine hair, the Muroto line is formulated with Depsea water (water extracted from 320m below the surface of the ocean, naturally pure and rich in minerals), which is an essential ingredient in much of the Shu Uemura skincare line.

Shu Uemura certainly take the ceremonial aspect of their "hair rituals" seriously - recommending Shiatsu methods of applying the products, designed to maximise their effects. And I dutifully tried them out with the shampoo and conditioner, discovering they are not terribly different from the way I usually massage my scalp when shampooing anyway. The products are pleasant to use - the shampoo is a clear one and foams nicely, rinsing clean, with no residue. The conditioner is fairly light and also rinses out easily, leaving my hair smooth and soft, and not weighed down.

I don't think the Muroto products really volumised my hair much, to be honest. But then I just dried my hair straight as usual when using them, so maybe they'd have more of an effect if you were really into styling your hair with volume. They were certainly nice to use, but I didn't think they lived up to the prices - shampoos are €30, conditioners €40, and masques €50. I'm glad I got to try them, and now that my curiosity has been satisfied, I will sit and wait patiently for the Shu makeup to return to Ireland...
