Wigging Out With Dip-Dyed and Coloured Wigs: Wouldja?

Wigging Out With Dip-Dyed and Coloured Wigs: Wouldja?

You'd think I'd have gotten mad coloured hair out of my system, having dabbled with dip-dyed pink ends, but apparently not. It only takes one photo of a pink-haired blogger on My Little Pony Hair to give me actual physical pangs of hair wantsies, and when Katy Perry arrived onto the X Factor stage with what I consider to be a total hair DO, complete with victory rolls, a mixture of admiration and envy shot sharply through me.

I won't be going pink, or any other outré colour, all over any time soon. Or ever, if I'm realistic: the bleaching and upkeep required to keep a whole head of hair pink would be a total pain in the hoop, and I like to play with my hair colour a bit too much to really commit to the look.

So I was interested to see that ASOS are now stocking bright wigs in addition to clip-in faux fringes and extensions and the like. There's currently a choice of long candyfloss pink or lilac with a gradual fade towards the ends (€44.87), or a Jessie J-alike bobbed style with fringe in hot pink or icy blue (€38.46) which also came in a mint green version á la Lady GaGa and, er, Kitty Brucknell, but that's now sold out.

What do you reckon? Are wigs like these a fun, commitment-free way to have a go of off-the-wall colour without wrecking your own hair or or are they strictly for fancy dress parties and Halloween? And, most importantly, would you consider wearing one?
