Beauty Confessions: I Never Got Over Hairspray

You know what? I LOVE hairspray.

Sometimes the oldies really are the goodies and I'm firmly in the mammy-tastic hairspray camp - it's probably the one hair styling aid that's consistently performed for me over the years. I'll pass on pastes, I say pooh-pooh to putties, gel is gross and wax just don't cut the mustard. The Hair of Pain needs a firm hold and my lacquer lust is as strong as it's ever been.

Oh, I've moved on from the days when Fructis Hard Hold (glue hold, more like) was my product of choice. Now I like a little something with a posher price tag, that'll hold but brush out, while keeping hair in place and giving it some of that all-important movement I need so my head doesn't resemble a Lego Minifig's.

Shu Uemura's lovely Sheer Lacquer is a fave, as is Wella High Hair Finishing Spray. James Brown London's hairspray is a great budget buy as well - a very fine mist and good hold make it a great pick.

Am I alone in my ma-like love of the stuff, or do you rate it too?
