2016 Golden Globes - The Winners (Film)

Say what you want about Ricky Gervais' performance - and we could say plenty - you can't say that the winners weren't all that surprising.

The big winners on the night went to both The Revenant and The Martian, with the former winning Best Picture (Drama), Best Actor (Drama) and another Best Director for Allejandro G. Innaritu whilst The Martian picked up Best Picture (Comedy / Musical) and Matt Damon winning Best Actor (Comedy / Musical).

Sadly, our own Saoirse Ronan didn't win in the Best Actress category, instead going to Brie Larson of Lenny Abrahamson / Emma Donoghue's Room. Larson's performance has been praised as one of the year's finest and cements her as the frontrunner for Best Actress at this year's Oscars.

Meanwhile, Aaron Sorkin can throw another Golden Globe on his already-huge pile, having picked up another one for Steve Jobs whilst Sylvester Stallone deservedly took home Best Supporting Actor for his part in Creed.

Inside Out also, rightfully, won Best Animated Feature whilst Jennifer Lawrence won yet Best Actress (Comedy / Musical) for Joy. Despite this win for Lawrence, she's still not exactly favoured to pick up another Oscar in a month's time.
