EastEnders Killed Off One of their Best Characters

The soap Christmas specials brought all sorts of drama into our living rooms these last few days, but while there was at least some source of solace and merriment in the likes of Corrie and Emmerdale, EastEnders did not hold back on the grim.

It had been leaked a few months ago that the writers were planning to kill off a central character on Christmas Day, with speculation rife among fans of the soap as to who it could be. Well, we found out yesterday, in what was the second part to an extended EastEnders special, just who it was.... the lovely Fatboy.

Yep, the popular character, played by Ricky Norwood, met his maker in the most grizzly way possible after a case of mistaken identity saw him locked inside a car boot for hours that would eventually head to the scrap yard. And he was claustrophobic too, as we learned in recent months. Damn it, EastEnders!

It was Ronnie Mitchell who was behind the attack, which she had planned for Vincent, although Vincent then spared her the gory details by telling her the car was empty when he found it. While he also hid beloved Arthur's death from Dot by telling her he was gone off to DJ in Austria, and may not ever be back. DJ in the sky more like.

It had previously been announced in October that Norwood would be written out of the series, but everyone assumed a character like that would just sail off into the sunset with that special EastEnders leaving music they play sometimes, but nope, and the shock twist left fans reeling...
