Celebrity status comes at a price and Emma Watson knows that only too well.
The former Harry Potter star has revealed that she rarely takes photos with fans, because āfor [her], itās the difference between being able to have a life and not.ā
Watson explained during a recent interview with Vanity Fair that: āIf someone takes a photograph of me and posts it, within two seconds theyāve created a marker of exactly where I am within 10 metres. They can see what Iām wearing and who Iām with. I just canāt give that tracking data.ā
She explained that she would rather make conversation with fans. Sheās more than happy to answer any Harry Potter questions fans have or to give out autographs: āIāll say, āI will sit here and answer every single Harry Potter fandom question you have but I just canāt do a picture.'
āI have met fans that have my face tattooed on their body. Iāve met people who used the Harry Potter books to get through cancer. I donāt know how to explain it, but the Harry Potter phenomenon steps into a different zone. It crosses into obsession. A big part of me coming to terms with it was accepting that this is not your average circumstances.ā
She added that she does still take photos with kid fans ā āChildren I donāt say no toā ā but that she has āto carefully pick and choose [her] moment to interactā, stating āWhen am I a celebrity sighting versus when am I going to make someoneās freakinā week?ā
