I love a good book. Getting sucked into another world and being swept along by an excellent story is one of my favourite pastimes. And getting to discuss it with other people who’ve also read that book is equally fun! I always love hearing how other people have interpreted a story - especially if they’ve picked up something that I’ve missed or vice versa.
With that in mind we’re launching a new monthly book club here at Beaut.ie. The first book will be The Cuckoo’s Calling by J.K. Rowling (written under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith). It is the first in a series of crime novels featuring the character of Cormoran Strike. Strike is a seasoned private detective, who is commissioned to investigate the apparent suicide of a beautiful young supermodel in London.
If you enjoyed the Harry Potter novels, then you will no doubt enjoy this book too. To me, Rowling’s gift as a storyteller lies in her skill at creating complex characters who each have their own perspectives and motivations within the story as a whole. And who doesn’t love a good old murder mystery? I know I do!
