New & Shiny: myface.cosmetics by Charlotte Tilbury

There's been a birrova buzz around the Interweb and on our own Blather of late about a new cosmetics range created by British make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury.

Trained by Mary Greenwell, she's well known and respected in De Industry and her client list is a veritable celebridee line-up, with the likes of Gwen Stefani, Kate Moss, Keira Knightley, Kate Hudson, Jennifer Lopez  and Demi Moore calling on her for their beautification needs. She's acted as make-up director for the seasonal shows and advertising campaigns of fashion houses like Louis Vuitton, Missoni, Jill Stuart, Temperley, Marc Jacobs, Chloé, Lanvin and Alexander McQueen.

Charlotte's distilled her vast knowledge and experience into the myface range, which she created with the intention of radically simplifying women's make-up choices. The collection is divided into three distinct groups by skin tone: fair, medium, and medium-to-dark.

Then within each skin tone family there are three shades of base, three shades of blusher, and six shades of lipsticks and glosses to pick from, and the idea is that - as long as you make your colour choices from within the skin tone group that's appropriate to you - you'll never make another bad make-up purchase again.

The eyeshadows are the one exception to the rule and transcend this division based on skin tone, as Charlotte believes they're very much a personal preference and that any eyeshadow colour can be worn by women in any skin tone category.

Five of the eyeshadow trios in the range feature what Charlotte calls "blingtones", which I'm really interested in trying - these can be applied as a wash of subtle shimmer or built up for an intense foil-like look. These blingtones use a high percentage of cosmetic pearls, a new milling technique, and a new oil to keep the eyeshadow pigment and the pearl concentrations looking like satin on the eyelids and prevent creasing.
