My New Favourite Thing: MAC's 130 Short Duo Fibre Brush

For the last couple of years, I've been quite happily applying my liquid foundation with my trusty MAC 187 duo fibre brush. Oh, sure, I've strayed, I've quietly tried other brushes on the side, but I've always come back to my 187 in the end.

Until now.

L-R: MAC 187 and MAC 130 duo fibre brushes.

The MAC 130 duo fibre brush is like the 187's shorter, smaller, stockier little relation. It's got the same Pepé Le Pew thing going on but its two-tone hairs are much more densely packed, and while I initially wondered if its smaller size would mean that it would take me twice as long to actually get foundation on my face, I can't say that I've noticed it taking any longer than usual.

What I have noticed is my foundation looking totally write-home-about-it amazing when I use this brush.

I stipple foundation onto my skin with the 130 and then blend it out in circular motions, and find that it gives a streak-free, almost airbrushed finish. (We're talking an even more polished, perfect-skin look than the 187, which I didn't think was possible.) The dense bristles offer serious control and allow for very precise product application and blending power, its smaller size means that I can easily get right in at the sides of my nose and blend around my eyes to ensure seamless coverage, and – bonus! – I find that it uses far less foundation than other brushes.

I'm also really liking the MAC 130 for applying concealer as well as cream and liquid highlighters and bronzers because it blends them all onto skin so beautifully.

Anyone else tried it and loved (or perhaps loathed) it?
