5 of the Best Beauty Tools

5 of the Best Beauty Tools
By Beaut.ie  | Nov 27, 2015

It's enough to think that you have to carry around a make up bag all day but aside from the actual products, there is also a need for a few tools. Tools? Yes, tools.

No, not like drills and hammers but tools of the softer variety to keep the face and hair, you know, in check. How many times have you torn the bathroom apart looking for a tweezers or nail clippers? I've lost count so I'm taking the executive decision to be more organised in 2016. Basically I intent to have everything I need close to hand at all times.

Whisper it, did I just make a resolution? Here are my top five tools to have at the ready.

  • Tangle Teezer

€16.29 available from Boots

I love these things. They come in lots of different sizes and I love the smallest one for my handbag. They are nice and shiny too so when you are rummaging in your oversize bag on the bus, you'll get hold of it easily; this is precisely why I own a neon one!

One trick with the Tangle Teezer as we approach Christmas is that it is amazing at detangling backcombing so if you are opting for an up-style, this will come in handy the morning after the Christmas party!

  • Tweezerman Eye Lash Combs

€13, available from FeelUnique.com

You might think this sounds a bit odd, but having a fine eye lash comb is a great tool for prepping your lashes before mascara.

I tried out the Tweezerman foldable comb which has very fine bristles to remove any remnants of mascara and detangle your lashes to allow for a new coat of mascara to get all over your lashes evenly. Honestly, it's amazing how long your lashes can look after a good comb.

  • Eylure Brow Stencils

€6, Eylure

Brows are the bane of my existence. Trying to encourage and coax them in growth is a full time job.

They still need to be threaded regularly but if I don't have them tinted or drawn on with an almost permanent marker, they become invisible. To help get the best homemade brow, Eyelure have these clever stencils to help you get the perfect shape with your brow products. And I find that these work really well with Benefit's Gimme Brow.

  • Barefaced Cleansing Brush

€85 available online at Boots.ie

I'm a huge fab of facial brushes every since I got the Clarisonic. But if you want a more affordable and equally functioning brush, then Barefaced is worth a try. The sonic brush comes in nice colours (always important) and does the job to get your face squeaky clean.

It's also good for daily brushing if you feel you need to get your skin bare. And I like that it has a USB for charging when you travel and the price point isn't too bad at €85.

  • Pointed tweezers

From €16

Not just your average tweezers, mind, a pointed one does so much more.

I've started to see these horrible, small little hairs appear on my chin that I need rid of fast. And the pointed tweezers get to the hair at the root so when you pluck, you get the whole thing. Sounds icky but it's totally necessary. This is also great for tiny eyebrow hairs that like to escape the normal shaping routine. Tweezerman make the top notch ones, you just need to mind them by keeping them completely clean.

What do you have in your kit? Have we missed anything we shouldn't live without?
