Ask & You Shall Receive: What are the "in" colours for nail varnish this season?

Myself and Aphrodite took ourselves off to Bang last Wednesday night for a dinner hosted by Elizabeth Arden, who were showcasing some upcoming goodies (more of which anon!)

I know, I know, it's a hard life.

Anyways, somewhere between the champagne and the vino and the fabilis food and the oohing and the aahing at the lovely new EA offerings, the talk turned to nail varnish, and specifically what colours are on trend for A/W 08. This came up in the Blather recently too, so here's the lowdown for anyone who's worried that their nails might be - shriek! - not in season.

First off, think steely: strong Gothic metallics like shimmering gunmetal or graphite and all shades of grey in general. The berry shades we've been seeing on lips for the last month or so are big news for talons too, together with jewel tones, hues of blue, and black or white monochrome.

Oh, and despite the traditional turning to darker shades of nail varnish when the evenings start to close in, there's still a place for the brights and neons of the summer to be worn with the rainbow coloured party dresses that have started to crop up!
