Beaut.ie's at Oxegen! Oh - and Your Bare Necessities
By Beaut.ie  | Jul 9, 2009

Heading off to Oxegen tomorrow? If you are, rest assured it's going to be possible to take a little bit of Beaut.ie with you as we contributed a tip to drinkaware.ie's Oxegen Survival Guide, which you'll find free on site.

And as a veteran of a festival or 20, and even though I don't (won't) camp any more, I got pretty smart at it. Obviously no beauty bag should be complete without the requisite ton of babywipes for the all-important hoors baths, and Nurofen Plus, but I'd also recommend:

DO TAKE

  • A few little packets of tissues - much handier for carrying into the arena than bog roll
  • A decent sized hand mirror for all those times you need to look at your boozed-up, sleep-deprived face
  • Dry shampoo. It's not just nice to have, it's an essential. Failing that, take lots of hair bobbins
  • Facewipes. BUT JUST THIS ONCE
  • Wine box - drink it down, then inflate and sleep on the innards for those essential hours of beauty kip
  • Sunscreen - take La Roche-Posay's Anthelios Fluide Extreme if you can. A brilliant product and very small and practically packaged, making it easy to carry. Ok, it might not be sunny, but you'll be outdoors most of each day and UV rays do penetrate cloud cover. Plus, there's an equally good 50+ spray that's perfect for body, too
  • Multi-functional makeup - double-up products like NARS the multiple would be ideal, cream-to-powder or mousse foundations (won't kill you this once) that don't require an extra setting step are also recommended, and do bring some waterproof mascara. MAC or GOSH's plastic-y liners would be a great bet for sweat/rain-proof colour - and no messing about with shadow and makeup brushes. If you do insist on bringing shadow, what about one of MAC's new Colour Craft quads? Space saving and great colour depth thanks to the baked formulation. For lips and cheeks, Benefit's Benetint or Posietint can be used as blush and a long-lasting lip stain, as can Bourjois' fab Rouge Hi-tech Lip Tints.
  • Lots and lots of deodorant - or double up on perfume with body spray
  • Bottled water - how else will you brush your teeth? Oh - and some mouthwash wouldn't go amiss, either
  • Earplugs and an eye mask - essential when you camp beside 23 high on life nordies who never go to bed. Oh go on - we've all been there

DON'T TAKE

  • anything you'd be gutted about having nicked
  • Anything that requiries ironing
  • high heels (I have tried, and failed)
  • the kitchen sink - you've also got to sleep in that tent, remember
