Courteney Cox admits regret over some of her 'horrible' cosmetic procedures

I spent a good fifteen minutes checking my hair last night. To an outsider creeping on me, it may have looked like I was checking for nits. But no, I was simply counting how many white hairs I have now since my last dye job. I swear dye encourages white hairs.

I'm in my early thirties and look it. I'm ok with it up to an extent because it's not like I particularly want to hang out with kids (and I can't afford botox). Watching yourself noticeably age is not all that fun, but luckily, in normal life, a few lines and a cluster of grey hair isn't going to cost you a job.

That's why I feel for Courteney Cox who revealed that she regrets some of the work she had done when the panic of ageing in Hollywood became too real to handle. In an industry that craves youth, sucks it right out of you and moves on to the next young, or young looking, thing, the pressure to look 'good' often ends up with you looking a bit, well, weird.

As Courteney herself said on Bear Grylls, in between admiring the Irish countryside and deciding whether eating maggots from a sheep carcass is a good idea: “Sometimes you find yourself trying [to look younger] and then you look at a picture of yourself and go, ‘Oh, God.’ Like, you look horrible. I have done things that I regret, and luckily they’re things that dissolve and go away. So, um, that’s good, because it’s not always been my best look."

Perhaps it's because she's reached a stage of her career where she's not scrambling to compete for roles against much younger women, she's moving on from her cosmetic surgery regrets and living by the practical motto to, "Just let it be.”

A motto more people, in Hollywood and in real life, could do with following.
