Red lipstick is a face-changer - how to decide to wear it on your wedding day

Are you torn between wearing a classic red lip on your wedding day or a safer lip colour? Let us help you make the decision about this face-changer colour

The red lip with slick liner look is undoubtedly a classic. Think Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth and in more recent times, Dita Von Teese and Gwen Stefani, who have been all advocates for the stark red lip look. This look has proved itself to look beautiful in pictures so it's an obvious possibility for bridal makeup.

I love when a bride chooses a red lip. It's bold and brave and yes, it looks stunning in the pictures. However, there is understandable hesitancy about it. You might ask yourself 'will it take over my pictures? Will it set the theme for the wedding as vintage? Or maybe you are worried about having to top it up all day and keep it perfect. All valid uncertainties.

In short, my advice is that if you love red lipstick and often wear it, it will be beautiful on your big day. As long as you are used to seeing yourself with red lipstick I don't think you will regret the choice.

However, if you are not a regular wearer of red or any kind of strong lip colour for that matter, I would say no! Don't wear it for your wedding day. It is simple advice. You don't want to look back on your wedding pictures and not recognise the girl in the pictures. Red lipstick is a huge face-changer. It will give you a more striking appearance. Your lips become a defining feature. If you are used to wearing a nude lipstick or a pink gloss you will look completely different with red lipstick on.

I always advice not to try something different on your wedding day. Stick with something tried and tested. Aim to look like the most beautiful version of yourself. Not like a completely different person. Would you agree or do you want a change from the norm on your big day?
