Get the Glow: Our Top 3 Facial Exfoliators

Following on from my Top 3 Body Exfoliators yesterday, I wanted to let you all know what my Top 3 Facial Exfoliators are too because similarly to body scrubs, finding a decent one can be tricky!

I find that getting recommendations always works best for things like this because when it comes to an exfoliator, we all generally want the same results.

First up the Clarins Gentle Refiner Exfoliating Cream with Microbeads. This rich, creamy formulation has two different types of microbeads; one that exfoliates and one that purifies. It lifts away dead skin cells,  impurities and tightens pores.

It also contains soothing Mimosa Tenuiflora extract for softer, smoother, deeply cleansed skin. A 50ml tube of this will set you back €31 at your local Boots.

Next up is my ultimate favourite - The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion exfoliant. This is a really gritty textured exfoliant made up of micro particles and crushed garnet stones which remove dead skin cells and lift impurities.

Vitamin C also helps to improve skin tone and texture and gives the skin a brighter more radiant complexion.

Last on my list is a bit of a splurge but totally worth the money if you feel like treating yourself. The Philosophy Microdelivery Peel. The Microdelivery Peel is a two-step system that doesn't just give your skin a peel, but a complete skin makeover in just three minutes. Unlike peels of the past that only exfoliated, this peel delivers peptides and vitamin c to the skin as it is being rapidly exfoliated. It resurfaces and replenishes skin at the same time, which is a new approach to skin rejuvenation.

  • Step 1

Using the vitamin c/peptide resurfacing crystals, apply a teaspoon amount to clean, dry skin. Once applied, crystals should appear almost like a mask. Gently massage in a circular motion over the entire face for up to 60 seconds, avoiding the eye area. Don't scrub and use less pressure if you have sensitive skin.

  • Step 2

Using the lactic/salicylic acid activating gel, place a generous teaspoon amount in the palm of your hand, massage gel onto fingertips and apply on top of the crystals. As the activator is applied, a warming sensation will occur and white foam will appear. Leave the foam on 2-3 minutes to infuse the vitamin c and peptides into the skin. Rinse thoroughly and voila.

This one will set you back €76 at your local Boots and is available to purchase online. I know it's a splurge but if salon results are what you want at home without the salon price tag then I really would recommend it.

Do you exfoliate regularly? What have you found to be the best product or method?
