Nailing It: New Colours and Trends to Try This Season

Nailing It: New Colours and Trends to Try This Season
By Sarah Jane Lanagan  | Oct 19, 2015

As we know,  nail colour trends have become more and more in tune with fashion over the past few years and this Autumn / Winter there are some definite influences coming through from '70s disco shades of gold and russet to moody plums and ruby.

I always find there’s something fun about changing up your nail colour to suit the season so today I’m looking at a few of my favourite shades:

Military Maven: It’s a trend that comes round most years so if you’re a fan of tones like grey, olive and navy then you’re in luck. These shades tend to work well on pretty much any skin tone, making short and medium nails look really polished (excuse the pun!). Some shades to check out include:

  • MAC “Nocturnelle” €10
  • Eve Snow “Film Noir” €9
  • Barry M Gelly polish "Black Pistachio" €5.99

Seventies Soul: Copper and russet have come back into fashion thanks to this season’s key 70s trends. Neutrals are always popular but if you want to really make an impression, pick up a shade that has some hidden depths with a hint of metallic:

  • Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamel; Autumn Spice €8.99
  • Revlon “Metallic Galaxy” €8.99
  • Maybelline Color Show Crystallize €5.99

Scarlet Woman: In a purely nerdy kind of way, I love to try to match up my lip colour with my nails during the winter and what easier way to do that than with a beautiful red, berry or plum shade? There are so many gorgeous ones on the market but these are my current loves:

  • NARS “Endless Night” €19
  • Ciaté “Dangerous Affair” €11.50
  • L’Oreal “Preliminaire” €7.49

Golden Girl: Whether added on as a top coat or worn as a stand alone colour, gold, rose gold and copper always makes nails look a little more luxurious. If you’re not completely sold on having the whole nail covered in gold then why not try it on the tips for a gilded French tip manicure:

  • Dior Golden Shock Top Coat €27.50
  • L’Oreal Carat Top Coat €7.59
  • Essie “Leggy Legend” €9.99

Will you be rocking any of these for the coming season or do you have your favourites picked out already? To the comments!
