Beaut.ienomics: Jane Iredale Magic Mitt

Magic Mitt

Ok, so it'll cost ya to start off with, coming in at about €30 from salons, but Jane Iredale's Magic Mitt could save you a heck of a lot of cash on cleanser in the long run. How? Because it's all you need to take makeup off and ensure that skin is perfectly cleansed. No extra product, no refills and no continued costs.

Hmm. I'm skeptical, though. Here's what the company claims:

Magic Mitt is made from a new generation of specially knitted micro-fibers many times thinner than a human hair. When wet they create a hydromechanical process that breaks the surface tension of the oils that bond makeup to the skin.

Reader Sweetie was equally as unsure as I am. "I didn't quite believe it would work - after all, you can't just wipe off all the makeup with a wet face cloth, can you?", she says. But she splashed the cash and gave it a try. "I dampened the mitt and off I went wiping my face in a small circular motions. It did quite a brilliant job - in about 30 seconds all of my makeup was gone, including non-waterproof mascara."

But she was still unsure, so she did a bit of a test with some cotton pads and toner to see what residue was left. The result? "It came out clean," she reveals. So, I think we can say it's a score on that front.

What else does Sweetie rate about the mitt? "It's quick, it acts like a mild peeling, it doesn't sting my eyes like loads of cleansers do, it's convenient for taking on holidays, it can be used in the shower, and it'll save you loads of cash on the beauty products." Cleaning it is a cinch too, she rinses it out after each use with some mild soap and washes it in the machine weekly.

OK girls, I think I'm sold.
