Catrice Spring Summer Collection: Eyes And Lips Are In For A Cheap Thrill

It's official - we are starting to see the beginnings of The Grand Stretch in the evenings. Hurrah!

And this daylight extension means that dark berry lips and burgundy nails will soon be replaced by lighter, fresher shades and pops of summery colours.

Catrice's Spring/Summer '14 is well worth a look if you need to replenish the makeup bag. Bright colours, shimmering metallics and soft pastels all appear in this collection, which is, as ever with Catrice, kind to the pocket and the bank manager's blood pressure.

So shall we have a look at their latest offerings?

Catrice have really focused on the eyes in this collection. Their Absolute Eye Colour Mono Eyeshadows are decent products for their price of €3.29, and six new colours join the range for SS14 - sunny sorbet yellow, fresh peach, rosé champagne, warm copper, ice and royal blue.

They also come in a range of textures and you can pick from matt, shimmering, pearl or holographic.

One of the standout products from this new collection is the new Absolute Eye Eyeshadow Palette (€5.49). Six pastel shades that are really wearable - I reckon you'd get a lot of use from this baby.

Another addition is the Eyebrow Lifter (€3.69), a light pink pencil that gives the illusion of a lifted brow. There are other more expensive pens on the market that have inspired Catrice's option, but this one can hold its own.

And for lips, check out the new Made To Stay Smoothing Lip Polish (€5.49). It's that hybrid idea that is all over the beauty landscape at the moment, combining lipstick colour, lip stain durability and the shine of a gloss in one mutant beauty. It comes in six shades - soft rose, poppy pink, classic red and three berry tones.

This collection is a big 'un, full of summery treats. If you are watching your pennies, you could do far worse than shelling a few out for these Catrice babies.
