Catwalk Nails: Glitter Stripes As Seen at Kinder Aggugini AW11

The Kinder Aggugini high-fash take

Oh, the joys of Autumn/Winter catwalk supplements in the August issues of fashion magazines. The clothes are great, of course, but I always flip to the beauty pages first, hoping to spot a good new makeup trend. And looking through Vogue magazine's AW catwalk supplement this month, my eye fell upon a striking, but oh-so-simple nail look from the Kinder Aggugini show.

Perfect if you're too lazy for anything as fancy as nail art, yet a lot easier to do than a standard manicure, this was instantly appealing to me. It reminds me of those days where you play around with makeup or hair just for fun and manage to come up with the kind of cool, casual looks that are impossible to achieve when actually making an effort to get that look. And where I usually have to set aside time to do a proper manicure (and ensure I have time to let it dry properly afterwards), this was a look I could easily slot in with a few free minutes in the evening.

My first step was to choose a polish - I love the dark, glittery colour (on the catwalk they actually matched the shade on each model to the shoes she was wearing, which was a nice touch) in the picture, but didn't have anything with quite the right amount of sparkle in my stash . That's clearly a wrong I'll have to right, and you can check out Lynnie's navy suggestions for some inspiration,  but in the meantime I decided to go with Chanel Vendetta.

You need a light touch with the brush to keep the line nice and narrow and some of mine were a little broader than I wanted, but this isn't a look that requires precision anyway. Two minutes of work and I was done and no need to wait around for the polish to dry as I only needed one coat. So, what do you think?

I ... kind of like it. The casual undone-ness of it appeals to me and for weekends it's a fun look, but it's probably not something I'd usually rock for the office. Next time I'm feeling lazy, but still want a bit of colour on my nails, however, I'll know what to do.
