Cleansing Oils

decleorUsing oil as a facial cleanser just sounds plain wrong, doesn't it? But suspend disbelief folks, because apparently oil cleansers are actually the business, no matter what skin type you have. The oils used are non-comdogenic, non greasy and won't cause breakouts or lead anyone to try and deep fry chips on your noggin. They zip through stubborn makeup and make removing it a cinch. Ok, I've intrigued myself, so where can I purchase said oil from?

Everything I've read about cleansing oil so far indicates that Shu Uemura were the pioneers way back in the 1960's in this field and that their stuff is King. King, and Queenly priced too - think €60 quid plus. I had a look at it at the weekend but the price tag made me put it right down again.

Absolute Aromas Organic Sweet Almond Oil from lovelula.com is a multifunctional product that can be used for a variety of applications such as massage, to prevent stretch marks, in your bath water, as a nourishing facial oil and cleanser or in the hair to nourish dry, flaky scalps. And it's waaay cheaper too at €10.18.

Gorgeous salon brand Decleor is also a dab hand at cleansing oils (above). I'm keen to try Decleor Cleansing Oil which promises to soften the skin while cleansing and completely remove all types of makeup. In addition, it contains gorgeous essential oils and smells of lemon and lavender. Yummmm-y. It's available from Strawberrynet for €24.

Shiseido Ultimate Cleansing Oil For Face & Body is also available from Strawberrynet for €17.50. It's an oil-based cleanser which is only deadly at removing waterproof mascara, sunscreen and any form of product you've welded to your face.

That's me firmly convinced - if you've used an oil based cleanser let us know your thoughts in a comment.
