Jelly Pong Pong Smells Very Nice, Actually

There was some wondering on Wednesday's Blather about cosmetics company Jelly Pong Pong. LMC asked if anyone had heard of them, Holly GoLightly said the name rang a bell but couldn't think where she knew it from, while Atomic Blonde pondered if they were Australian.

Well, Kirstie first introduced us to this crowd as far back as September '06, and apparently their offerings are popular with celebridees like Kylie, Kate Moss, Gwen Stefani, Natalie Portman and Fergie. Jelly Pong Pong is a British-based make-up line: it was created in London by Susan Chyi, who's originally from Malaysia, and all their products are made in Italy.

Jelly Pong Pong might well be on your beauty radar at the moment because they've just opened a store in Covent Garden and are launching a new range of products created in collaboration with Nicola Roberts of Girls Aloud. Called 'Dainty Doll', the line will cater specifically to the needs of fair-skinned gals.

And if you're just wondering where the feck they came up with the name... Chyi originally wanted to go with 'Jelly' but her uncle argued that 'Jelly' was insipid and had no oomph and to add 'Pong Pong' if she wanted people to remember the name. So there you have it - nothing to do with the stuff smelling a bit funny at all!
