In these recession-tastic times, there's something awfully decadent about going out on a Saturday morning to have caviar applied to your face, and that's exactly what I did this weekend. The Fresh Caviar Facial from Urban Beauty in Rathmines is an intense regeneration treatment, designed for mature skin or skin in need of revitalising. And after the last few months of cold weather and little sunlight, my skin fell firmly into the latter category.
The Fresh Caviar Facial moisturizes, nourishes and firms the skin, thanks to the properties of fresh caviar cells, which are rich in amino acids and peptides, helping to nourish and regenerate the skin. Free from added fragrance and chemical preservatives, the products are refrigerated until the point when they are to be used on the skin, adding to the soothing effects of the treatment.
The facial starts with a cleansing and exfoliation, to prepare the skin for the caviar application. The caviar extract is applied to the skin through gauze strips, pressed in to allow the active ingredients to penetrate the skin. Fresh caviar oil is then applied with a pressure point massage. Following the massage, the skin is covered with a fresh caviar black mask, which is rich in marine extracts to help purify the skin. The mask is removed after 15-20 minutes and a fresh caviar hydrating cream from the range is applied to the clean skin.
It can be used as a one-off treatment to boost the skin for a special occasion, or as a course of 6 weekly or bi-weekly treatments if required. My skin feels much more balanced after one treatment and is so soft, smooth and clear the following day that I don't even want to apply makeup over it.
The Fresh Caviar Facial is exclusive to Urban Beauty in Dublin, lasts 60 minutes and is priced at €75.
