Upon leaving for her holidays Shauna was issued with strict instructions from Beaut.ie Mammy.
"Get some Nivea Aftersun - it's the best invention ever! It just gives you a fantastic tan - it's a wonder product!"
She had expounded at length on the brilliance and necessity of this product. When Shauna returned from Boots and it was discovered that the packaging of her Nivea Aftersun was different to that of Beaut.ie Mammy's, there was consternation and worry. We explained that this was just new packaging - but still the fear lingered. What if Shauna's version didn't work as well?
Upon closer perusal of the product we discovered that there was not much wonder there at all. It contained "a hint of self tan". Mystery, er, solved.
It became a running joke on the holiday, hilariously funny to me and the husband. So we took far too many opportunities on the first day or two, to relentlessly slag poor Shauna.
- After sunbathing: Did you put your Nivea on?
- Before going to bed: Make sure you don't forget to lash on the Nivea.
- Knocking on the shower room door - Just leaving your Nivea outside for you.
- In the morning: Did your Nivea work? Jesus it's A MIRACLE!!

Anyway she WAS going browner. So I decided to try it for myself. One leg got the Nivea treatment. One leg got regular aftersun.
After two days the Nivea leg was nicely tanned and looked much better than the regular aftersun leg. I had to aknowledge that it did work well. Now it isn't the best aftersun ever mind, but its cheap, does the job and enhances your tan while you're at it.
Hmmm, maybe Mammy DOES know best. But don't tell her I admitted that.
