Nice n Easy: Mavala Eye Makeup Remover Pads

I was sent these Makeup Remover Pads, €5.99, a while ago along with a few other Mavala Eye-Lite products (the jury's still out on the primer; I think it may work best as a mixing medium) and they gravitated towards my bathroom cabinet for a bit of judicious testing. I'm a balm-and-muslin-cloth-cleansing kinda gal and one of the reasons I like oily balms is that they take the lot off: foundation, lipstick, waterproof mascara - if you've painted it on, they'll sweep it back off.

But not everyone shares my cleansing preferences and yes, there have been occasions when I've drunkenly smeared a wipe haphazardly across my face before falling into bed with my shoes on. That's when these boyos come in handy because they're really properly oily and do take primed-on glitter and lashings of liner off, something wipes definitely can't manage.

The flipside of that is that these aren't good for immediate re-application - they do leave an oily residue which is fine at night when you're hitting the hay, but which means you can't put new eye makeup on straight away or it'll pretty much slide right back off. You might need a couple of them to get it all off, but at under ten cents a go, sure you wouldn't be too bothered about that, eh?
