More Ways to Achieve Lily Allen Eyes

linerI know lots of you are keen on La Allen's makeup, as am I. I'm not too much of a Laura Mercier gal, me - her lovely makeup is just waayy too subtle and classy for my tacky tastes! I've long been a fan of shockingly bright colour on my eyelids and I am always looking for new shades and methods of application.

A while ago I got myself a Barry M Kohl Eyeliner in a really bright bright bright orange. I'd been coveting a Smashbox shadow in a similar shade for ages, but since the eyeliner cost me about four quid and the shadow would have been about twenty, there was no contest.

On to the results! Firstly, it's extremely soft and easy to apply. One of the reasons I like liquid liner so much is that there's no drag - a hard kohl pencil dragging across my eyelid is, to me, the makeup equivalent of nails screeching down a blackboard. I cannot stand it! But that wasn't a problem here - the pencil slicked on easily, and was it was a doddle to create a nice, clean swoop directly above my lash line. Off out I went, all pleased with myself.

After a couple of hours, I checked myself in a mirror. That's when the disadvantage of using a soft kohl pencil began to rear its ugly head. The liner I'd carefully drawn on had smudged and it had also tattooed itself into a reverse mirror-image of itself, up on my upper lid. I resembled a particularly crazed clown.

I wasn't too daunted by this though - I just took it back off and pondered a bit. I love a challenge, me. So next time, I stuck a slick of eyeshadow primer on first. Bingo! It makes the liner slightly harder to apply, but you can really feel the primer giving the pencil something to grip to. I set it with a very small dab of translucent loose powder and it didn't budge all evening.

So all in all, this is an extremely cheap way to get fab coloured liner stripes - I think I'll be getting this in a few more shades. Barry M cheapy goodness can be bought in Superdrug stores in Dublin, Wexford, Cork and Limerick.
