RoC Hydra+ Bio Active Anti-oxidant Bio Moisturising Cream SPF15

This little beauty made its way to me courtesy of a Beaut.ie competition. It arrived just in time to stave off the winter nastiness. Winter turns my combination skin (very oily t-zone and terribly dry chin and cheeks) into a landscape of raw redness and horrid breakouts.  Hydra + B. A. is formulated for dry skin, it feels luxurious, creamy, smells lovely and instantly made my skin feel smoother. Miraculously it didn't get me all clogged up either. I have no dry patches at all and given the fact that I am exposed to the elements on my cycle every day that's bloody amazing! Love it!

daywear plus

Estee Lauder DayWear Plus SPF15

I have been using Estee Lauder DayWear Plus with SPF 15 in the dry skin formulation for almost a year now and I love it. It has a very rich, emollient texture and really eases the tightness that my skin suffers from. On the skin, it has quite a greasy texture which is exactly what I look for in a moisturiser and it feels as if it continues moisturising my skin all day, even in an air conditioned office. It is a pale green colour with a light cucumber scent. The aim of this cream is to delay the signs of aging which means it is ideal for young skin. It is full of anti-oxidants and also contains vitamins C and E. I believe it is also non-comedogenic. It comes in a 50ml tub and this lasts me about 6 months and at €42 a tub I think that’s great value. This and the Estee Lauder Idealist serum are the first skin care products I have repurchased and I don’t see myself changing anytime soon.

superdefense

Clinique Superdefense SPF25

I just recently purchased Clinique's Superdefense SPF25 moisturiser, I had read rave reviews about it in various magazines and on Beaut.ie, so after being a Clarins addict for years, I was sceptical...but I am converted...lovely texture, it absorbed very quickly and foundation went on very well after application of the cream.

It claims to have 'special properties' for emotional stress, not sure how a cream could claim such properties, but as I am recovering from shingles and having just had a baby in October, my skin was in need of some miracles and am delighted to say my skin is currently FAB! Those 'special properties' must be working and it has an SPF of 25. 5* for Clinique Superdefense cream. My dryness that I usually have this time of year is now gone!

dermalogica

Dermalogica Sheer Moisture with SPF 15

I love, love, love Dermalogica Sheer Moisture with SPF 15. I switched to it after becoming concerned that my other Dermalogica favourite, Skin Smoothing Cream, didn’t have any SPF – which is a bit of a strange one if you ask me! It was summer when I started using it so I thought it might not be moisturizing enough for winter use too, but despite its ‘sheer’ name, even in this chilly weather it gives just enough moisture to my normal/dry skin and it’s a great base for makeup. I still use the Skin Smoothing cream as a night cream and for an extra dose of richer moisture on the odd day if I feel I need a bit more. My only gripe with it is that I go through it so quickly – the 40ml tube barely lasts more than a month or two, but I haven’t found one that suits my skin better. Must be because the “Natural Zinc Oxide minerals protect against sunlight and make skin radiant, while extracts from Olive Oil and Walnut Seeds provide antioxidant protection and improve skin texture.” Couldn’t have put it better myself! It costs about €32 from salons, bargainously less from Adonis Grooming.

Clarins Hydration Plus Moisture Lotion SPF 15

My mum bought me this some years ago and I really loved it. The funny thing is I haven't bought any since - the only reason being that I'm always on the hunt for something better but so far I haven't found anything! I've tried other similar products since but within a week I'm thinking "Why, oh why did I not just get that nice Clarins one again!" So I've made a promise to myself that when my current moisturiser runs out, I'm off to the nearest Clarins counter!! It comes in a pump dispenser and feels quite light but skin feels moisturised all day. It won't give your face that ashy SPF sheen, and your makeup won't slide off by lunchtime! It has a physical SPF which makes it suitable for sensitive skin, and an anti-pollution complex to protect the skin. Smells lovely too!
