Now might not seem the best time to launch a brand new cosmetics line, but when the people behind the launch are named Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, then perhaps they have a bit more confidence than most. Add makeup mastermind Pat McGrath (who put Giorgio Armani Cosmetics on the road to success) and Scarlett Johansson, hand-picked by Messrs D&G to be the face of the brand, and you have a recipe for success on your hands.

Dolce & Gabbana cosmetics will encompass classic cream and semi-sheer shine finish lipsticks, lipglosses, eye palettes, blushes, bronzers, foundations, mascaras, eyeliners and nail polishes. Packaged in chic gold cases inside soft velvety pouches, this will definitely be a luxury line, and promises to offer something for everyone, from the very pale to the very dark and for both those looking for a natural look and fans of the more theatrical.

The advertising campaign features Scarlett evoking the spirit of Marilyn Monroe - all pale, creamy flesh, platinum curls and of course, the requisite Dolce & Gabbana va-va-voom corsetry. Dolce & Gabbana Cosmetics launch this month on a fairly limited basis, but hopefully they'll be available to us here soon.
