Smashbox Wish Sets for Christmas 2010

Yesterday we took a look at Smashbox's Burlesque beauty lineup and I promised you a look-see at what the brand's Christmas gifts are like. Much the same as last year, there are a range of Wish giftsets and palettes available and you're looking at the grandaddy of them all above.

It's Wish for the Perfect Palette, it's €75 and it contains 49 eyeshadows, 10 cream liners, six brow powders, brow wax, eight glosses, two blushers, a bronzer, highlighter and four mini brushes. Phew!

This is Eye Wish, €59. As well as a get-the-look guide you get 12 shadows, four cream liners and mini Lash DNA mascara and Photo Finish Lid Primer. Pretty much everything you need for party eyes, really.

Wish List is €65 and contains five brand stars: Photo Finish primer, Photo Op under eye brightener, Jet Set cream liner, Fusion Soft Lights in Baked Stardust and the newest O-Gloss, Gold.  I had a go of this recently and it's lovely - delivers a pearlised, gold pink shimmer to lips.

This is Wish for the Perfect Pout and contains two full-sized and four smaller-sized glosses for €30. Shades are Candid  (pink with gold shimmer), Luster (sheer golden pink), Radiant (shimmering pink plum), Baby Pout (sheer and shimmering version of best-selling Pout), Ecstasy (shimmering blackberry) and Divine (golden nude).

Smashbox is a brand noted for its primers, and Wish for the Perfect Primers, €50, brings three best-sellers together. You get a 30ml Photo Finish primer, lid primer and a travel-sized targeted pore and line primer.

And last but not least, we have Wish for the Perfect Pencils, €35. You get four Limitless Eyeliners in Onyx, Orchid, Graphite and 14k for your cash.

These giftsets are called Wish for a reason: there's a donation made from each to the Children’s Miracle Network. Smashbox say on the UK/Ireland press release:

"a non-profit organization that grants the wish of life by providing medical care, life-saving research and ongoing education to help millions of kids overcome diseases and injuries of all kinds. With each Wish purchase, Smashbox will donate one dollar up to $25,000 to the life-saving charity."

That's great and noble and I'm all for brands donating a portion of proceeds to charitable causes - but it's a US charity. In Ireland would it not be the thing to make sure those donations go to Crumlin/Temple Street? Estee Lauder localises its charity donations for BCAM for example, and really, I think if Smashbox want to crow about their giving ways, then they should make sure those giving ways extend to the country in which they're selling the products.
