Urban Decay has created a facial oil for foundation and it's a serious gamechanger in the game we call make up
Fan of beauty updates on Instagram and You Tube? Then you'll probably have heard of the Urban Decay Drop Shot Mix In Facial Oil. All the beauty influencer types are adding oil to their foundation routines. But, but why? Well, dewy skin is why obviously.
Oils used to be a bad word in the beauty world, but now we know they can work miracles on the skin, including oily skin. Urban Decay isn't the only cosmetics brand to introduce an oil to its repertoire, but this one feels and behaves quite, dare I say it, revolutionary.
The brand is marketing it as part of its 'foundation customisation' programme they dreamed up way back in 2001. It makes sense. When you have the ingredients to tailor your foundation, you can create the perfect makeup for your skin. You may have heard of the already established UD 'mix-ins': Liquid Aura Illuminating Mix-In Medium, which makes foundation glow; and The Velvetizer Translucent Mix-In Medium, that mattifies. The new Drop Shot Mix-In Facial Oil ha been designed to make foundation 'ultra-blendable.'
Initially, as my skin is quite oily, I was sceptical of using an oil. But, it left my skin soft but not greasy and gave a gorgeous glow and radiance to the skin unlike anything else I have tried. It really does make your foundation a lot easier to apply smoothly and helps it blend like a dream.
So, who is this for? It says it's for when skin feels dry, but it's for all skin types, really. It is great for people who are looking for longer-wearing foundation without the caking effect. Or for anyone looking for more radiance or glow. OR for people who need help blending their foundation well.
Oils are rich in antioxidants and nutrients which help to condition the skin giving it a dewy and radiant glow. If the skin is dehydrated (which often it is at this time of the year) your skin will absorb anything you put on it including your foundation. That is why this oil works so well. Your skin will be plumped and hydrated; it will absorb the oil and not your foundation which in turn will keep your foundation lasting a whole lot longer.
It's available now from the Urban Decay store at 50 Grafton Street, Dublin, in Debenhams stores nationwide and online, and in House of Fraser, Dundrum Town Centre.
