Weird Beauty Gizmos # 532: Epi Stick Facial Epilator

epistick

Tooling around eBay last week, I came upon a most intruiging yoke. Seriously reminiscent of a cotton ear bud, the epi stick had rubber ends connected by a long-ish tightly coiled spring and, judging by the happy smiles of the Asian girls pictured demonstrating its effectiveness, it's Big In Japan.

I amused myself for a few minutes looking through the listings for this "Bendy Super Stick", as some sellers insisted on describing it. Heh. The idea is that you bend the stick into an inverted "u" shape, hold the top of the "u" against your unwanted facial hair, and twist the handles in opposite directions while moving the epi stick in an upwards motion to trap and remove hair on the chin, upper lip, cheeks, and forehead.

The Asian girls go for hair-free faces in a big way. You wouldn't catch them dead sporting a Jolen-bleached ronnie, y'know.

The epi stick bills itself as a handy DIY alternative to threading (although it's not suitable for use on eyebrows) and if you like the sounds of having a Bendy Super Stick of your very own, you could ship one in from Tokyo or Hong Kong or Singapore via fleaBay... or buy a doppelgänger Epicare hair remover here.
