Top tips to keep your fitness goals on track this winter

Fitness motivation for the winter months

It’s been a pretty mild autumn but that winter chill has well and truly arrived! With dark mornings and evenings, it can be really easy to lose motivation to stay active. Hitting the gym before or after work is tougher when it’s icy outside and the comfort of home is calling!

It’s very obvious, but my best advice in winter is to be prepared. Be prepared for the cold, wear layers. Gloves and hats are always in my bag or pockets. And gloves that you can text with are an essential for me. If I have the accessories ready I’m less likely to skip a big Sunday walk.

And I don’t want to speak too soon but I think we’ve had a good few dry weeks so I like to get the gang together and get out to Howth or Glendalough for a bit of fresh air.

I’m prone to sore throats so I like tops and hoodies that come right up to my chin. If I feel a tingle coming on, I’ll have a spoon of high grade manuka honey. Sometimes I’ll make a herbal tea with a spoon of manuka honey in either. A good multivitamin is something I take year round, if you aren’t taking any then now is the time.
