Summer Brides: We've just found the perfect second-day dress

Because the 'second day' of a wedding is a thing now, you're gonna need a second-day dress

These days, weddings don't end at the 6 am rezzy bar sing-song. You must have a brunch or barbeque or at least a wedding day post-mortem with friends in a bar (that has a function area and serves plenty of finger food). The bride can't just turn up in jeans and a t-shirt (well, you can, especially if it's this t-shirt); but in general, the second-day dress is almost as hard to choose as the wedding dress.

I don't want to put even more pressure on brides; you don't have to buy a special dress. For my "second-day", I wore a dress I'd already worn three times (once to a friend's wedding), and because we just met friends in a bar, most guests didn't dress up at all. It does depend on what type of second-day you organise, but we have to face facts. Getting gussied up in your glad rags is fun, and what better opportunity than for your extended wedding celebration?

The (newly created) tradition is to wear a white dress. Most lady guests won't wear white to the second-day party, so you can continue to stand out and be the centre of attention. This strappy lace dress really caught my eye.

I think it would be gorgeous for a beachy second-day, or anywhere if the weather is anyway summery. But, if it's a bit too shapeless for you, here's one in the body-con 'Bardot' style from River Island.

It's the right time to shop for a white dress, that's for sure, and there's plenty of choice for all tastes and price points.
