When all you want to wear is pyjamas but you have to do, well, life, this Sundance look should be your January uniform.
We're having trouble shaking off the sequins. One of the best things about the festive season is getting dressed up every day - and getting dressed up to the nines on the special days. That's why this month feels so horribly drab and grey. The weather outside is frightful, but we've no season of joy to look forward to. Now, for the record, we're trying to be positive. We're also trying to make life as easy as possible. That's why we're keeping our looks easy but as cool as possible. That's why we've chosen a January uniform.
If you want casual winter style inspiration, go to Sundance. Not the actual festival founded by Robert Redford that takes place in Utah in January/February, just visit the photographic archives. It's the least fancy film festival of them all and we bet the celebs love to just pull on their jeans and jumpers and snowboots and pose with their cast and crew members for quirky pics.
Sundance is known for its 'aren't we all having a great time' group snaps, but there are also film premieres to attend. That's when the stars swap their snowboots for heeled boots - but the whole vibe is still relaxed.

This pic is from two years ago, but the look is just as relevant today. That is about the only good thing about January; everyone is wearing the last bits left in their wardrobes because the rest is piled up in the laundry room. It's a simple look; loose dress, (perfect for disguising the Christmas belly) black tights (perfect for concealing stubbled legs because we don't care any more), and high heeled boots (perfect because we do actually care and we want to make some sort of effort).
What to choose in your loose dress is a detail like Chloe's ribbon. There are some gorgeous dresses on ASOS right now with pussy bows and slits that look just as good showing a tights-clad leg as a bare one. This shirt style is cute, too.
Just wear with one of your millions of pairs of black tights and the black high boots you're bound to have.
What do you think of the look? Do you wear the same thing every January?
