Best Eye Makeup Remover For Sensitive Eyes: La Roche Posay Toleriane gets the Seal of approval

Okay, terrible pun I know, but sure I couldn't resist!toleriane.jpg

Our reader Seal has very sensitive skin and wears contact lenses to boot, so she has found it extremely difficult to find a good eye makeup remover. This though, is no ordinary eye makeup remover. "A strict formulation code to minimise the risk of intolerance safely cleanses sensitive eyes instantly, effectively and without rubbing." Fragrance and preservative-free, it is packaged in sterile monodoses - one for each day - to guarantee ultimate purity and hygiene.

Sounds fantastic. But did Seal think it lived up to its claims?

"I've been wearing contact lenses for seven years. Couple this with sensitive eyes and the result is an ongoing quest for an effective, yet gentle, eye make-up remover.

"I've been using Lancome Bi-Facil and find it the best of the (many!) brands I've tried, but when Aisling recommended La Roche-Posay I was more than happy to be her semi-blind and sensitive guinea pig!

"The product is recommended for sensitive eyes/contact lens wearers and I've often found that when eye make-up removers are advertised this way they are basically repackaged water and completely ineffective at removing make-up.

Toleriane (without wanting to sound over-dramatic!) is definitely the exception to the rule, two words: IT WORKS. A great product, this cleanser would suit anybody, not just those with sensitive eyes.

It's not greasy at all, I could take off my eye make-up and start all over again without having to wipe with a dry cotton pad. It got put through some serious paces in the past week and it could remove, heavy eye shadow; smoky eyes; liquid liner; gel liner and very thick mascara.

"I even used it to take off make up with my lenses still in (very bold of me) but it didn't irritate them in the slightest.

Then gently stroke without rubbing. The method really works. Three downward circles over my eyes, a little more attention to my lashes to get rid of all the mascara and a quick wipe under the eye removes ALL make up.

"It's priced at around €12 and all in all, I would definitely purchase, it's the best eye make-up remover I've used."
