Talika Lipocils has been around for a while now and I have used it before, but never been patient enough to stick with the twice daily application long enough to see results. Recently, however, I've noticed my lashes could do with a helping hand. They are naturally quite long and dark, although not very thick, but they didn't seem to look as long as they usually do and an ominous gap had appeared right in the middle of the lashes on one eye. I was placing an order with HQhair anyway, so I decided it was time to give Talika Lipocils a try.
Lipocils is an eyelash conditioning gel based on plant extracts. It was discovered in 1948, when a doctor treating war casualties in Paris noticed that the plant-based anti-bacterial cream being used to heal wounds was also having a beneficial effect on the growth of eyelashes and eyebrows. Talika grew out of this discovery. What Lipocils claims to do is to help lashes and brows grow to their full length - untreated they can fall out before reaching full length. In other words, if your lashes aren't destined to ever grow long, it won't help, but if they do have the potential to reach a longer length, Lipocils should help them to do so. Clinical trials conducted in 1997 showed that 63% of eyelashes and 69% of eyebrows increased in length by 0.5 to 2.5mm over the 28 day trial period.
I have now been using Lipocils for a week, applied morning and night. At this point I can say in its favour that it hasn't had any negative effect on my sensitive eyes, even at night. It is applied like a mascara, and should be pushed into the base of the lashes, to ensure that it penetrates the roots of the lashes. For daytime application, I have to mention that it makes a fantastic base for mascara. I never usually bother with a lash base, as I find they usually make mascara look clumpy when applied. Lipocils, however, gives a smooth foundation for mascara, with no clumps, but definitely adds volume and definition, which is a nice bonus.
