The best way to keep your skin hydrated

Are you suffering from a dull complexion that can't be fixed despite plenty of highlight and a bright blush? The culprit is dehydration.

Skin that’s lacking moisture has the exact opposite look of a lit-from-within glow.

There are easy and achievable ways to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out so you can wake up with healthy, naturally glowy complexion every single day.

Use Water-Boosting Skincare Products

Slathering on a thick, super rich cream isn’t always the solution when your skin is in dire need of moisture.

What it does require is water-attracting ingredients like hyaluronic acid, a superstar hydrator that can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water.

Carve out a little bit of time to speak to research the skincare products you're buying to make sure it's the best option for your skin type.

Eat Water-Rich Foods

Foods that contain mostly water can be just as hydrating for your body (and skin) as drinking water.

Eat water-dense fruits and veggies like berries, watermelon, plums, peaches, cucumbers, celery, and lettuce, throughout the day.

Exfoliate Regularly

You might be stocking up on the best products on the market, but your skin may not be absorbing them as well as they should.

Exfoliation removes the dead skin cells from the top layer of skin, which can prevent skin-care ingredients from doing their job.

Use a chemical-based exfoliating serum or pad every other night

And be sure to apply a cream post-peel. Try a gel-cream combo with hyaluronic acid that can boost your skin’s water content.

Don’t forget to apply a good SPF too as your skin is vulnerable after a peel and it can burn more easily.

Spritz O'clock

Get into the habit of spritzing your skin throughout the day with a Facial Spray.

As the Skin Nerd would say ‘it’s Spritz O’clock!”

Regular Spritz O’Clocks are about pumping your skin full of goodness.

When you hydrate the skin, the pH balance remains at an optimal level (ie. the oils, which are not bad but necessary, are maintained) ensuring that your pores don’t go into oil over-production, leaving you shiny.

Keeping your skin from getting thirsty is key for a plump look. Hydrating spritzes are those that contain water only in a smaller molecule.

Turn down the temperature

Having really hot showers and baths can actually strip essential oils from your skin.

Try turning down the temperature and always make sure that you wash your face with lukewarm water.

It's a little change that can make a massive difference.

Use a gentle cleanser

Some soaps and cleansers contain lots of harsh chemicals that will actually dry out your skin.

When you're buying face wash make sure you read the ingredients and always opt for the most natural option.

Drink Water Like it's your Job

You already know this one.

Eight glasses of water will keep your skin looking healthy and plump.

It might seem obvious but one of the easiest ways to keep your skin hydrated is to make sure that you are drinking enough water.

Aim for at least two litres a day and more if you're hitting the gym.

You can make it more exciting by infusing your water with different fruits and berries.

Set a reminder on your phone at regular intervals to remind you to take a sip.
