Clear Mascara - why??

Clear Mascara - why??

The whole idea of using clear mascara has always seemed to me to sort of miss the point of what mascara is all about - enhancing, thickening and most importantly, getting your eyes noticed. But actually there are a few applications for clear mascara that do make it a relatively useful item to have in your makeup bag.

Sometimes the dramatic lashes we dream of are just a bit ooh la la for daytime wear - especially if you work in a conservative environment. But as your eyes are the focus of your face, it is nice to wear something that will enhance them, however subtly. If you've dark lashes, clear mascara will add some body as well as gloss to your lashes, and if you've pale lashes, then it will actually give you a bit more definition.

Another useful application is as an undercoat before your regular mascara. A couple of coats of clear mascara will build up and give body to your lashes. You can then top with a coat of your regular coloured product, and you'll have fat lashes with no clumps. Clever!

Lastly, a popular use for clear mascara is as a brow fixative. If yours are a bit unruly, swish a wand loaded with product through them to style and fix in place.
