Complexion is the over all look and feel of our skin, and it's something we're a bit obsessed with here at Beaut HQ. Today we're talking cheap and cheerful ways to improve your complexion.

Complexion - it's something we're always working on. Improving, brightening, clarifying and everything in between. From Aisling's epic journey of skin treatments before getting married to Rebecca's love for face masks and serums, we'll try anything in the pursuit of gorgeous skin.

Products can play a big roll in improving our skin, we know that. But there are other ways to do it too. And that's what we're focusing in on today. Also, because it's January, we're keeping it budget friendly (Lord knows we need it!). So without further ado, here are some cheap and cheerful ways to improve your complexion.

Hydrate

Yes, we've said it a million times but here it is again - our skin needs hydration to be healthy. Which means, water. During the winter months, we're often exposed to changes in weather as well as central heating. All this can mess with the water levels in our skin.

To maintain a healthy balance always make sure you're drinking enough water, whether that means swapping one of your daily flat whites for a peppermint tea or just keeping a bottle next to your desk.

Reduce screen time

What's so bad about screen time? Surely scrolling through Instagram, taking a few selfies and replying to a few emails isn't the end of the world? Not really, but the blue light that's emitted from devices has been known to have adverse results on us. From lack of concentration, being unable to sleep (our brains register blue light as sunlight) to potential skin damage.

Massage

Facial massage is one of the easiest ways to give your skin a boost. It improves circulation, aids product absorption and can help improve firmness too. Not only that, but regular facial massage will also help to detox your skin which in turn, helps to combat breakouts.

Sleep

We will always extol the virtues of sleep here at Beaut. It's good for your mind, body and of course, skin. It's not called beauty sleep for nothing. As we know, our complexion is one of the first places to show signs of lack of sleep. Dark circles, a lack lustre appearance and break outs are all commonplace when you're tired. So treat yourself to a few early nights and you'll start seeing the benefits in no time at all.
