Behold the most striking gowns from Award Season 2015!

With Awards Season upon us, what with The Golden Globes officially kicking off things this coming Sunday night, we thought we'd cast an eye back on some of last year's offerings from the myriad of red carpets. While not every offering would be a personal 'go-to gown', there's no denying that the below choices were definitely eye-catching.

Firstly, iridescent white ensembles dominated across the board, with Kate Hudson, Diane Kruger and Lupita Nyong'o all opting for the hue at different bashes. Hudson's Versace number attended the Golden Globes, making us all reminisce for the early 90s, when Liz Hurley was all the rage.

Then we had Lupita at the Oscars, channeling her inner pearly queen thanks to this Calvin Klein number.

And lastly, we have Diane Kruger wowing in another ornate gown at Venice, courtesy of Prada.

Now to the metallics! Also keeping with the ornate, embossed, and glittery embroidery theme of 2015, we had Emma Stone at The Oscars in a golden Elie Saab Couture gown.

Daktoa Johnson was also on hand to bring a birra glitz to the Golden Globes in spangly silver Chanel Couture...

Keeping things a little more understated in the silver department, we had Reese Witherspoon at the same event in Calvin Klein.

Jennifer Lopez kept it lit for metallics thanks to her silver Zuhair Murad offering at the Globes, and her molten Elie Saab at the Oscars...

And now for something completely different. Cate Blanchett wore this graphic print Giles gown at the Carol premiere at Cannes.

The back is like a work of art.

For those missing the LBD, Lady Gaga brought some understated class to the Emmys in a Brandon Maxwell dress.

And from the sublime to the wondrously ridiculous - but there's no denying that Rihanna at the Grammys can pull off the pink loo roll holder look with aplomb. We have the pinkest of dresses from 2015 thanks to Giambattista Valli couture.

No doubt we've missed one of your favourites; if so, please feel free to enlighten us!
